Program: Farm Tours

Topic(s)
Animal Biology, Insects, Spiders and Arthropods, Living With Our Environment
Description
This field trip program is designed as a sensory exploration of where our food and fiber come from. Designed especially for younger students ages preschool through 1st grade, it involves exploring in our all-organic childrens' garden, where plants are not just seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted too. Kids observe the cycle of nature taking place in the garden setting as garden leftovers are composted, with the help of squirmy worms, to create new soil for another generation of plants. Students will also meet our cows, pigs, sheep, goats, and chickens, and be invited to consider what familiar products each of them provides to us.
