Program: Ohlone Indians

California History, Early California Indians/Ohlone, Living With Our Environment, Nature Walk
Investigate the Native American relationship with the environment as you pound acorns, make rope, play Ohlone games, and search the forest for food and medicine. Small group instruction; long program includes hike.

Two formats available:

- Short format (1.5 hours): YSI instructor and parent helpers lead stations, no hike. Short format can be done at Alum Rock Park, Vasona Park, Sanborn Park, or at your school.

- Long format (3 hours): YSI instructors lead small group stations and hike. Long format can be done at Alum Rock Park or Sanborn Park.

Fee Description
1.5 hours: $300 per session 3 hours: $550 per session Travel fee for at-school programs is $100 per day (within Santa Clara County)

The 3-hour format of this program, which includes a hike, is offered at Alum Rock Park in East San Jose and Sanborn Park in Saratoga.

The 1.5-hour format of this program (no hike) is offered at Alum Rock Park in East San Jose, Vasona Park in Los Gatos, Sanborn Park in Saratoga, and at your school.

Anyone can come visit us! For our regular travel fee, we can bring programs to Santa Clara County. For an extra travel fee, we can also go to southern San Mateo County and southern Alameda County.

Our programs are very hands-on and are designed for one class at a time.
