Program: Bay Explorations

Topic(s)
Animal Biology, California History, Marine Ecology, Water Science
Description
Step aboard for a three-hour educational voyage that gives students a rich, hands-on experience on San Francisco Bay. Aboard the 82' schooner Seaward, students become both sailors and scientists for a day! Bay Explorations combines a structured curriculum of rotating learning stations with the active and cooperative experience of getting the vessel underway, raising the sails, setting the course, and steering the ship.

Lessons are taught in a hands-on style designed to engage students with the ship and the bay. The curriculum aligns with 4th and 5th grade California State Standards in social studies and science, but is readily adaptable to suit different age levels. Choose between two voyage programs, or design a customized shipboard program to fit the needs of your group.

Seaward is a U.S. Coast Guard inspected vessel with a USCG licensed captain and mate and a crew of professional sailors and educators.
